Banquet House Person (Full Time)

Delta Burnaby Hotel & Conference Centre

This is a Contract position in Greater Vancouver, BC posted September 13, 2017.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up meeting rooms according to Delta Hotels and Resorts Standards
  • Banquet House Person will be responsible for event room set up as per Banquet Event Order
  • Maintain excellent service standards throughout the Banquet department
  • Co-ordinate effectively with Kitchen and other departments.
  • Participate actively in a multi-functional, team environment
  • Be supportive of creativity and innovation, and maintain a high level of professionalism and quality service
  • Observe & follow the established Emergency Fire & Health & Safety procedures and to work in a prudent and safe manner

Physical job demands will include:

  • Moving tables, chairs, flooring and staging.
  • Setting, serving & clearing tables.
  • Standing & walking for the main duration of the shift
  • Polishing cutlery and general up keep of Banquet Space
  • Organizing the storage room
  • Cleaning banquet facilities includes vacuuming, removing linen and general cleaning.

Qualifications:

  • Must have Serving it Right certificate/Food Safe is an asset
  • Experience in a high volume Banquet/Hotel facility an asset
  • Must be physically fit and able to perform heavy lifting tasks
  • Candidate must be a team player who has the ability to organize, motivate, train and supervise staff.
  • Candidate must have strong commitment to guest satisfaction; and be detail oriented.
  • Must be a dynamic self-starter with strong communication skills.
  • Must have excellent follow-up and time management skills.
  • Must co-ordinate effectively with the kitchen and other departments before, during, and after service.
  • Must have a flexible schedule as weekends/evening and night shifts are involved.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Please note that the hotel is unable to assist candidate in obtaining a Canadian work authorization.
