Guests are welcome to stay with us for however long they need to, whether that’s for one day or several months. Our hotel is conveniently located in downtown Edmonton. A home away from home, guests have the convenience of getting comfortable in their very own private apartment. We are currently in need of a Hotel General Manager to help grow the business even further. This is your chance to join a close-knit team and advance your career in hospitality.As our new Hotel General Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the hotel: everything from customer service to employee management. You will personally lead the charge in sales & marketing and are responsible for growing the business by reaching out to new clients, and partners to help market our hotel.The best in this role will do more than keep employees on task and complete daily to-do lists: the right person will pitch in when necessary, maintain morale, and find ways to improve the profitability and efficiency of our operations.Practically speaking you will: * Oversee daily operations including reservations, housekeeping, security, finance, revenue, and meet targets and KPI’s* Assign duties and oversee employee performance in accordance with policies/procedures and best practices* Forecast staffing needs, interview, train, conduct performance reviews, coach, and take disciplinary action as needed * Maintain accurate records/billings and balance credit cards daily, weekly, and monthly* Work with our property manager to conduct property inspections, generate reports, arrange contractors/maintenance, and audit/order supplies and materials* Identify and seek out new markets and business opportunities and increase sales* Maintain relationships with local companies to increase the hotel’s visibility* Oversee bookings and provide follow-ups/adjustments as necessary* Complete the annual budget, month-end, quarterly, and annual balancing and reports You are forward-thinking, a great communicator, and work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders. As a small team, we are all hands on, meaning there will be plenty of room for creative thinking while working with the company leadership group.Working with Canterra Suites HotelThis is a full-time, permanent position with scheduling that requires flexibility and can include evenings and weekends. In addition to a competitive salary likely ranging between $70,000 and $90,000 per year, you will receive three weeks’ paid vacation to start, and a medical/dental benefits package.Our hotel is a family-owned business, where everyone is treated like a member of the family. Many of our team members have been with us for years, which we think says a lot.Qualifications* Experience in a customer-facing role, focusing on customer and guest experiences, in the hotel/hospitality industry* Experience managing, leading, supervising, or overseeing a team, in the hotel/hospitality industry* Previous sales & marketing experience with a demonstrated ability to make effective impacts on sales/revenue, preferably in the hotel/hospitality industry* Strong financial acumen and proven experience with budgets, forecasts, and financial reports* Strong writing and conflict resolution skills for client communication (in person, over the phone, by email, etc.)* Post-secondary degree/diploma in hospitality, hotel management or a relevant field would be an asset* Skills with PMS (Property Management Software) (an asset)How to ApplyOur online application will give you the option to apply to this role as a complete person – not just a resume.
