Maintenance worker

This is a Contract position in Quebec City, QC posted September 10, 2023.

Workplace: 1740 René-Lévesque Boulevard West, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, H3H1R3

Status: Full-time (4 to 5 days per week)

Schedule Type: Day, Evening, and Weekends

Salary: $25.49 per hour

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of the facility’s infrastructure. This crucial role ensures that all equipment, systems, and facilities within the establishment operate optimally to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and systems such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, heating, security systems, etc.
  • Repair and address technical issues reported by clients or identified during regular inspections.
  • Undertake minor renovation work such as painting, wall repair, floor covering installation, etc.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of kitchen equipment, appliances, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Monitor and maintain ventilation and air filtration systems to ensure optimal air quality.
  • Manage maintenance requests and assigned tasks through the maintenance tracking system.
  • Coordinate with other hotel departments to minimize disruptions during maintenance work.
  • Adhere to safety standards and regulations when performing maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory of spare parts and supplies required for maintenance work.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on new technologies and best maintenance practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Professional Studies Diploma (DEP) in building mechanics, electromechanics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in general maintenance, preferably in the hotel industry.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, heating, and security systems.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose technical malfunctions.
  • Good understanding of safety standards and the safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating strong teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail, diligence, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
