[Passionate] Housing Director – YMCA Residence

The YMCA Residence promotes social inclusion and cohesion with the most vulnerable people in our society by welcoming and housing refugees and asylum seekers.

In collaboration with the Executive Director of the YMCA Residence and their management team, the chosen candidate will plan, organize, lead, and control the Residence’s customer service, housekeeping, and maintenance activities. The Housing Director will make sure these activities meet the needs and expectations of clients, ensure the department’s effectiveness and profitability, mobilize teams to meet ambitious objectives, and ensure requests by different YMCA Residence partners are answered.

What challenges will you tackle?

  • Ensure the quality and smooth running of the daily housekeeping, customer service, maintenance, and administration operations.
  • Ensure operational, financial, and administrative activities related to your sector are thoroughly managed.
  • Ensure complaints, comments, and suggestions from clients are addressed fully and take necessary measures.
  • Optimize and supervise the inspection program for rooms and common areas.
  • Perform operational checks, follow-ups, and budgetary control.
  • Manage the purchase of equipment and materials for the departments under your responsibility and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Manage, support, evaluate, and supervise employees who report to you.
  • Hire, welcome, on-board, and train new employees.
  • Plan, organize, and manage work schedules for employees who report to you.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures regarding the protection of children and vulnerable people.
  • Understand and integrate philanthropic values into your role and the Association, and attend annual fundraising campaigns and Foundation events.

Who are we looking for?

To successfully execute their mandate, the Housing Director must:

  • Have a university degree in business administration, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Have at least eight years of experience in team management.
  • Have several years of experience in the hospitality sector or a related industry.
  • Have experience working in a unionized environment (asset).
  • Be fluent in English and French, spoken and written.
  • Be able to communicate in Spanish (asset).
  • Be able to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Have strong team management and leadership skills.
  • Be able to manage multiple sites with different configurations.
  • Have strong organization skills, know how to prioritize and adapt to an environment that is always changing.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule when needed.
  • Have no criminal record in connection with employment.
