The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Food & Beverage team at the first Match Eatery & Public House in Ontario! Attract, gain, and maintain loyalty of new and existing clients by driving the success of our Eatery & Public House through the promotion of events and products via on-line marketing, traditional interactions and social media. Provide premier customer service and product knowledge to our guests by ensuring guests are welcomed with a smile, seated and organized.

Key Responsibilities


Confidently guide our guests experience while maintaining a positive first and last impression
* Efficiently assign our guests to a server by name; ensuring server is aware of guest assignment
* Provide our guests with prompt attention and menus and seek opportunities to share expertise
* Ensure entrance surroundings are inviting, free of debris and stocked of necessary items including menus, pens, business cards etc
* Manage guest wait list and reservations. Process all reservations on on-line system providing as much custom feedback to guests as possible. Plan guest seating arrangements in advance to ensure prompt service for reserved guests
* Answer phone calls proficiently and notify team members of all large parties expected
* Assist servers with exceeding guests expectations food and beverage expediting, replacement cutlery, bussing and cleaning, etc
* Solicit guest feedback whenever possible and put it into action within the scope of your position
* Notify guests of upcoming events, generating enthusiasm for these events
* Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures
* Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures and standards
* Attend and participate at off-site community events to promote the restaurant/pub and community gaming centre as required

What Youll Require

* Currently enrolled in a post secondary program, returning in September

– Must provide proof of enrollment
* 1 year experience as a host/hostess in a high-volume restaurant/pub environment preferred
* Professional sense of style and impeccable attention to personal image and propertys atmosphere
* Excellent interpersonal skills effective listening, outgoing, fun attitude, enthusiastic, professional
* Ability to initiate clientele conversation and discretely communicate information
* Good knowledge of food and beverage operations
* Proven selling, marketing, and service skills in a dining, retail, or promotions environment
* Intermediate computer skills e-mail, social media, credit card terminals, order system
* Ability to multi-task, organize workload and work under pressure
* Ability to handle cash, e-mail account, reservation and POS systems
* Smart Serve Certificate
* Tourism, promotion, marketing, entertainment, event training experience is an asset
* Knowledge of specialty food and beverage items
* The ability to obtain registration as a Category 2 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
