bakery manager


This is a Full-time position in See description posted December 23, 2017.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that department employees deliver high quality service implementing the store’s employment guidelines and monitoring probationary period for new hires
  • Ensure that department employees are fully trained and have product knowledge to provide full service to customers.
  • Develop the Bakery Department team by creating a positive work environment and, employee engagement and job satisfaction
  • Conduct the Bakery Department’s performance reviews, by receiving feedback on employee performance from Assistant Bakery Manager as well as the Store Manager and providing feedback to employees
  • Provide training to bakery department employees to ensure that all employees fully understand their duties and responsibilities and have product knowledge.
  • Ensure that Bakery Department employees follow the dress code procedures wear hair nets, aprons and name badges
  • Ensure that general inventory and supplies are readily available to perform daily tasks
  • Ensure that products are rotated in the display case and presentable
  • Ensure that carry-over stock is kept to the lowest possible level for product freshness and quality
  • Ensure department is clean, signs are up to date and properly displayed
  • Demonstrate and utilize product knowledge regarding pricing, quality, and ingredients of baked goods.
  • Ensure all weekly advertising and promotions well merchandised and up to date to generate maximum sales and profits.
  • Inform customers of promotions and sales that are available on daily and weekly basis.
  • Maintain strict hygiene standards throughout the departm
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations and policies are followed by all employees,
  • Prepare and monitor department budge, analyzing weekly and monthly financial reports and KPI’s
  • Identify areas in need of improvement and communicate to the leadership team
  • Provide orientation, coaching and training to new employees
  • Works closely with Human Resources department regarding to employee relations
  • Actively solve problems in order to improve the store’s level of service, efficiency and productivity.


  • Verbal knowledge in English.
  • Ability to develop and train employees, build relationships, be aware of employee’s skills to utilize efficiently.
  • Ability to supervise, coach and mentor employees to obtain efficient and cost effective results
  • Ability to work with the bakery manager in order to supervise department operations effectively.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and build relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, stressful environment, to meet sales and service goals.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to handle multi-million dollar sales volume.
  • Ability to communicate Company policies and procedures to staff.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, bend, twist for extended period of time
  • Minimum 3-5 years of management experience, preferably in the food retail environment.
  • University degree in Business related program.
  • Knowledge of pastries, cakes, baked goods an asset
