3rd Cook, (Part Time)

Role Summary

The Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation’s Food Service Department is seeking a 3rd Cook.

As a 3rdd Cook you will reporting to the Culinary Management team, this position is responsible for tasks that focus on the day to day activities in the kitchen. Assist First Cooks and Restaurant Chef in all areas of the kitchen including food production, standards and kitchen sanitation. Position assists in ensuring guest satisfaction is achieved while maintaining the operating standards.

In addition the responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Station operation, serving and preparing products in accordance to specifications or delegation to tasks of the Chef’s
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements and food handling safety standards and Comply to all safe food handling and storage policies.
  • Operates all department equipment as necessary and reports malfunctions
  • Actively supports daily cleaning and ensures associates follow daily cleaning routines and keep their work areas clean and sanitary throughout their shift.
  • Knowledge of kitchen operational procedures
  • Understanding of Restaurant and/or Event Productions
  • Good customer and associate relation skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Strong organization skills
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and safety standards ( MSDS)
  • Adhere to all company policies and programs as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Requirements
  • 1-2 Years Hotel/Restaurant experience as cook or enrollment of a culinary program, with all round knowledge of the kitchen operation
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Culinary Education/Trade papers and asset
  • Related work experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • A positive attitude and an eye for detail and appearance

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, cold environments
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Stand or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
  • Move through narrow, confined or elevated spaces
  • Move up and down a ladder
  • Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces

This is an event based position and commitment to the event schedule is required. There is an emphasis on evening and weekend shifts.
